{"id":5893,"date":"2023-02-07T22:43:28","date_gmt":"2023-02-07T21:43:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tibicon.net\/en\/?p=5893"},"modified":"2023-02-07T22:47:32","modified_gmt":"2023-02-07T21:47:32","slug":"they-told-you-wont-make-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tibicon.net\/en\/2023\/02\/they-told-you-wont-make-it\/","title":{"rendered":"How many times have you been told \"you won't make it\"?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Want to know why I ask you this question?<\/p>\n<p>I will tell you right now.<\/p>\n<p>I hear repeatedly about talents, just those people who Mother Nature is supposed to have endowed with natural gifts and who succeed seemingly without any effort:<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">the world seems more and more divided between those<br \/>\nwho are naturally born to succeed and the ones who are doomed to mediocrity.<\/h4>\n<p>Thanks to this widespread belief, talents are coveted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tibicon.net\/en\/2021\/07\/talents-alone-would-go-nowhere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">businesses<\/a>, in a perpetual and desperate search for people who can magically provide solutions to their competitive instances;<\/li>\n<li>by the media, which use them to offer the audience models to identify with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">How does the myth of talent influence each of us?<\/h4>\n<p>Surely to limit our desire to improve ourselves, curbing our personal and professional growth, and everything that comes with it:<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">if you are not naturally gifted, why get excited?<\/h4>\n<p>In this video you can see the Welsh Steve Jones in a 10,000-meter race in the early 1980s; Jones had started out running in the 5,000 and 10,000 but then opted for the marathon, a race in which he won several prestigious international competitions, even shattering previous records.<\/p>\n<p>Watch the video, then read on.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IZ-_3Ug3wqU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the middle distance, Jones seemed to have a limit: his final sprint was not up to that of his opponents, who too often confined him to second place after a leading race.<\/p>\n<p>But in this competition, when everyone thought he would lose again in the final, the Welsh athlete was able to place a sprint that surprised his opponent and led him to an exciting victory.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Would have Jones won the race<br \/>\nif he had been thinking about his limits as a sprinter?<\/h4>\n<p>In conclusion, when you feel you won&#8217;t make it or someone insists on holding you by the ankle when you want to achieve a goal,<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">you will get better results by putting your energy<br \/>\ninto preparing yourself rather than worrying about your limits!<\/h4>\n<p>Don&#8217;t you think?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Want to know why I ask you this question?
