Today I want to talk to you about a rather common behaviour:<\/p>\n

changing jobs without updating the LinkedIn profile<\/h2>\n

and leaving the name of the old company during the trial period.<\/p>\n

I met several people who behaved in this way and asked some of them why.<\/p>\n

The answer I received was more or less the same:<\/p>\n

for superstition’s sake, it’s best not to say
\nthe name of the new company
\nbefore you have passed the trial period!<\/h2>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

To avoid the difficulty of explaining why you did not pass it.<\/p>\n

Persuasive? I have some doubts.<\/p>\n

This kind of attitude is risky because:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. it shows a lack of self-confidence;<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. it reveals a fragile belief in the choice made;<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. it leaves room for the uncomfortable feeling that you have left a door open behind you.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This is a real threat to the budding relationship with the new company, just like in the cartoon.<\/p>\n

    In short, when you change your job, do so consciously and face the new challenge with commitment, determination, and enthusiasm: leaving the past behind you.<\/p>\n

    What if you fail to pass the trial period?<\/h2>\n

    Well, then you will get back up and face the situation, which would not have been any better if you had not updated your LinkedIn profile.<\/p>\n
